Continuous heavy rain has affected around 40,000 families in the Ampara district .

The Government agent Sunil Configure requested  RKM, Batticaloa to do relief work. Ramakrishna Mission looked after the people staying in Ramakrishna College, Akkaraipattu.

We Swamis rushed to the affected places and did relief work. Provided 500 Mats, 500 Bed sheets, 200 shirts, 100 mosquitoes net, 1000 packets milk power, 200 kgs biscuits. Cooked food served for them in noon, night around 2000 persons for two days
(09-01-2008 to 11-01-2008).

Mornings breakfast served for 2000 persons bread with banana on 10th and  on 11th bread with Dall.
