The establishment of the Ramakrishna Mission by Swami Vivekananda opened a new horizon not only in the age-old spiritual thoughts of our country but also brought about a new movement in the field of cultural and socio-economic development.

The activities of the Mission, however, are not of a social welfare organization, but an organisation of basically a spiritual outlook with social commitments and universal appeal. Ramakrishna Mission, Colombo Centre, started a scheme in 1997 to support poor students in Sri Lanka. Last year it spent Rs.1.248 Million (USD 11,350) for educational purposes.

The ever increasing demands from students due to the present situation in Sri Lanka require more effort to provide education to the Poor.
The type of support provided for students:

  • Food, love, a caring environment, health care, and education.
  • Care about their Current well being and Future success.
  • Financial assistance to start, continue, or complete their studies.
