Every month the full moon day is declared as a public holiday by the government of Sri Lanka in order to encourage the people to do spiritual practises as preached by Lord Buddha. Thereby Ramakrishna Mission Colombo centre organises ‘Satsang’ or Spiritual retreat on the full moon day and observes it with bajan, spiritual practises, discourses and Prasad. Sri Ramakrishna says the Satsang would be the only way to uplift the mind from the worldly thoughts and the centre practises this teaching through these spiritual retreats.

Spiritual Discourses and Classes

Swami Vivekananda when he started the Ramakrishna Mission had two visions in his mind.

  1. To spread the message of Sri Ramakrishna
  2. To serve the people in need

Accordingly the resident swamis and guest scholars and swamis from India conduct group discourses and classes on the teachings of holy Trio and from the scriptures. Every weekend evenings there used to be classes on the Bagavad Gita and from the Gospel of Sri Ramakrishna by the resident swamis.
